The rich heritage of India's North East region spreads across 8 different states namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and the Himalayan state of Sikkim. It is critically important to digitize, document, preserve and promote the cultural heritage of North East states of India, which is available in the form of museums, archives, libraries, arts and crafts and monuments. Therefore, our aim is to empower selected organizations in this region by providing them with ICT solutions already developed by us and also by developing some new solutions.
It is envisioned to develop web-based software infrastructure for the museums, archives and libraries in the North East states. This includes North East Heritage Portal with built-in crowdsourcing framework, Arts and Crafts Portal and specialized software solutions such as JATAN: Virtual Museum Builder and DIGITALAYA: e-Library & Archival System in the Software as a Service (SaaS). The portal will also provide a solution that includes Mobile Tourist Guide App and Crowdsourcing framework for content creation and management. In this project, we propose to develop key solutions for the pilot SMART Museum such as Visitor Tracking, Antiquity Tracking and Smart Antiquity.
Long term aim of this project is to create and offer Cloud based HERitage computing Solutions for Humanity (CHERISH).
Therefore, all interested heritage organizations and tourism departments from the North East states of India, desirous of participating in this project are requested to register at Register here or send an email to digitalpreservation@cdac.in. The heritage organizations for provision of ICT solutions will be selected on the basis of their own readiness to contribute, relevance to this project and overall feasibility.
